Memories & Candles
How many times did I tell John that I was never going to be a teacher? I loved assisting him in his theatre program at Payson High School because... well... it was theatre. Watching him work with "his kids" over the years changed my views about what teachers did. When i took over our progam as the full-time educator, he would say to me over and over, "You decide.. It's your program now." He made me strong, confident and passionate about why teachers teach.

One night at a rehearsal, John and I decided to help the lady who was playing for the show. We sang along. She stopped. "What key are you singing in?"
John smiled. "The white ones. In the key of R-flat." "You're flat all right." She played on, so loudly no one could hear us sing.
The miles we hiked. The stories we told. These are the things which make our lives worth while.
Thank you, John, for our memories.
