Albert Ray Tucker, 64, of Imbler, died at Grande Ronde Hospital in La Grande on Thursday, September 20, 2012. His funeral service with military honors will be at the Summerville Baptist Church on Tuesday, September 25th at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be in the Summerville Cemetery. Al was born on February 1, 1948 in La Grande, Oregon. His parents were Andrew Jackson Tucker and Myrtle Tobrocke Tucker Miller. Al married Minnie Thornton on July 6, 1973 in Wichita Falls, Texas. He was employed with Davis Shows Northwest, and drove bus for Elgin School District and the Mid Columbia Bus Company. He was a hunter education instructor with ODFW for 20 years. Al enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and camping. He served his country in the United States Army receiving an honorable discharge in 1986, when he retired after 20 years of service. Surviving are his wife Minnie of Imbler; daughter Jean Anne Pierson and her husband Kirk of La Grande; William Andrew Tucker of Tygh Valley, Oregon; mother Myrtle (Tobrocke) Tucker Miller of Elgin; brother Tom Tucker and his wife Helen of La Grande; grandchildren, Justin Brainerd; Jacob Sutton; Jennifer Johnson; Jaelee, Kennedy and Noah Pierson; and 3 nephews and nieces and their families. Al was preceded in death by his father, Andrew Jackson Tucker and grandson Jeffrey Paul Brainerd. Memorial contributions, in memory of Al, may be made to the Al Tucker Memorial Sport Shooting Fund, in care of Summerville Baptist Church, PO Box 164, Summerville OR 97876.
