Unfortunately I Never Got the Chance to Thank Him for Everything (Published 9-13-11)

Q:

My friend passed away almost a year ago. We  met in March of 08 and he got me started on my career in the US Coast Guard. He had done so much for me and made me who I am today. Unfortunately I never got the chance to tell him. He knew that March 29th, 2010 was his last day on this earth, but he didnt bother to tell anyone. He died on couch at his residence at 75 years old. He died of prostate cancer. I dont know what to do and I'm severly depressed. Do you think you could give me some pointers? I feel very regretful for not telling him "thank you for everything."
