Life Stories

My father met Mrs. Wright during an ACTORS production of "Once Upon a Mattress" in the early 1960s, when Daddy was "Sir Studley" and Mrs. Wright was the "Nightengale of Samarkand." I LOVED that musical! And the story of Don being more worried about how his mother was going to get out of the cage she performed in than the performance itself. But then, he was just a little guy then.

Mrs. Wright was also the soloist at the First Church of Christ, Scientist in Ames, and Daddy loved to hear her sing (as did everyone else)! What a beautiful soprano voice she had.
