John R. Middleton, 69, of Russellville, died Thursday, January 17, 2013, at his home. He was born November 12, 1943, at Henryetta, Oklahoma, to Robert S. and Mildred Childs Middleton. He was a 1961 graduate of the Henryetta High School, and was retired from the United States Forest Service. He was a member of the Monday Night Men's Bowling League, was a volunteer at Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center, and was an avid hunter. He was a member of the Russellville Christian Center. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Terry John Middleton; and a brother, H. Joe Middleton.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Middleton; a son, Kevin Middleton of Yukon, Oklahoma; six daughters, Laura Middleton of New York City, Mischelle Coffman of Pottsville, Melissa Pate of Conway, Latricia Olmstead of Edmond, Oklahoma, Robin Wilson of Danville, and Deborah Norfleet of Hot Springs Village; a brother, Robert Middleton of Sunrise, Florida; a sister, Paula Backwater of Kenwood, Oklahoma; 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, January 22, 2013, at the Russellville Christian Center, officiated by the Rev. Tom Underhill and Susan Allen. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, by Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.
Active pallbearers will be O. D. Smith, Terry Caston, Dave Crigger, Gary Knudson, Duane Dipert, Ron Knost, Norman "Corkey" Cooper and Derwin Gilkey.. Honorary pallbearers will be past and present employees of the Ozark-St. Francis National Forest Service.
The family will receive friends on Monday evening, from 5-7 p.m., at the funeral home.
