Karen E. Poe, 64, died on Sunday, June 11, 2017. She was born in Watertown, NY, February 10, 1953, the daughter of Malcolm H. and Ramona Comstock Bretsch. She graduated from LaFargeville Central School in 1971. She lived in Bangkok, Thailand, Red Bank, NJ, Biloxi, MS, Alexandria, VA, Oahu, HI, and settled in Phoenix, AZ. An early marriage ended in divorce.

Karen was hired by the Phoenix Police Department in 1982 as a 911operator, dispatcher, and trainer, retiring in 2013 after 31 years of service.

Karen married Larry Poe on August 1, 1992 and were approaching their 25th anniversary before Larry's death on May 18, 2017. They were active in the Rod and Gun Club, enjoyed boating, fishing, camping, playing bingo and were avid Arizona Cardinals and NFL fans. They were also enthusiastic supporters of son Ron's race car team at Manzanita and other local tracks. Karen was a talented knitter, philatelist, seamstress and homemaker. She lovingly tended to all of her furry critters through the years. She was never happier than when doting on her cherished granddaughters.

Survivors include her mother; a sister Loree (George) Bowman; two stepsons, Ronald W. and Edward M. Poe; three step-granddaughters, Shelby, Georgia and Sierra Poe and many relatives and friends.

After cremation, a celebration of life will be held at Cross in the Desert Methodist Church, ***address***, on July 15. Burial will be at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona on ***date***.
