Anita Maxine (Swalve) Barlow the daughter of Otto J. and Elsie (Sleeper) Swalve, was born February 15, 1929, on a farm near Ledyard, Iowa. She died on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at the age of 84.

She received her education in Ledyard, Bancroft, Wallingford and Estherville schools.

On April 26, 1947, she was united in marriage to Vern Eugene Barlow in Jackson, Minnesota. Following their marriage, the couple made their home in Estherville. Anita provided Daycare in her home for over 20 years and loved the children she cared for. For hobbies, she enjoyed sewing, walking, playing cards and reading. Most important to Anita was spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Anita has been a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church where she taught Bible School and Sunday School for many years. Anita also was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary. She was currently a member of the United Methodist Church in Estherville.

Left to cherish Anita's memory are her children, Michael Barlow and his wife, Marjean of Minnetonka, Minnesota; Catherine Miller and her husband, Brian of Estherville; six grandchildren; Robin Halonen and her husband, Brian of Mound, Minnesota; Melissa Aguilar and her husband, Moises of Hickory, North Carolina; Amanda Vagle of West Des Moines, Iowa; Alex Miller of Estherville; Brandon Larson and his wife, Michelle of Minnetonka, Minnesota; Chris Larson of Woodbury, Minnesota; six great grandchildren; Emma, Kaleb and Ben Halonen; Mya Aguilar; Anthony and Kaitlyn Larson; siblings: Sena McGregor and her husband Forrest of Buffalo Center, Iowa, Leona Kleine of Elk River, Minnesota, Elsie Selberg and her husband Harold, Ada Williams and Andy Swalve and his wife, Rozella all of Estherville.

She has been preceded in death by her husband, Vern; parents; brothers and spouses: Johnny and Nettie Isebrand, Richard and Ethel Swalve, Roy and Mata Swalve, Evert and Jennie Swalve, Otto and Norma Swalve and Ellsworth "Doc" Swalve; sisters and spouses: Francis and Fred Beitz; Tillie and Vinal Bebo; Annie and Harry Schroeder and several extended family members.
