Benjamin Edward Gregory, Jr., 61, of Richmond, passed away on Wednesday, February 20, 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents Benjamin Sr., and Virginia Gregory and his sister Suzanne Abel. He is survived by his sister Verna Vanhook and brother Daniel Gregory, nephews James Vanhook (Kim) and Robert Abel; nieces Laura and Jenni Abel, great nephew J. C. Vanhook; and a special friend Gloria Winston. Ben was a retired employee of Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. He was a member of Eastern Henrico Ruritan Club, and Lieutenant Governor of the Chesapeake District Ruritan. He was a lifetime member and leader of the Boy Scouts of America and a lifelong member of Calvary United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 24th from six to eight PM and again on Monday, February 25th from two to four PM and again from six to eight PM at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave. Richmond, VA 23231. A funeral service will be held at 11AM on Tuesday, February 26th at Calvary United Methodist Church 1637 Williamsburg Road, Richmond Virginia 23231, followed by interment at Washington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart of Virginia Council, Boy Scouts of America or Calvary United Methodist Church.
