Betty Louise Durflinger, 91, of Niantic, IL passed away on Monday (Jan. 14, 2013) at St. Mary's Hospital.
A service to celebrate Betty's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday (Jan. 17, 2013) at Niantic United Methodist Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Thursday. Burial will be in Harristown Township Cemetery. Dawson & Wikoff West Wood Street Funeral Home is assisting the family with services. Memorial contributions may be directed to Niantic United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Durflinger was born on December 14, 1921 in Niantic, IL, the daughter of Howard and Pluma (Greenwood) Koonce. Betty helped her husband on their farm for many years. She was a member of Niantic United Methodist Church. She loved her family and her home and enjoyed gardening, cooking and the outdoors. Betty married George Frederick Durflinger on October 12, 1940. He preceded her in death on March 12, 1996.
Surviving are her children: Janet Durflinger of Springfield, IL, James (Linda) Durflinger of Decatur, IL, Gerald (Sandy) Durflinger of Mt. Auburn, IL and Judy Lynn (Michael) Brown of Decatur, IL; grandchildren: Lori L. (David) Stanley, Jennifer Lowe, Jason (Melissa) Clouse, Angela (Leland) McKinnett, Gregory Alan (Joanne) Durflinger, Jeff (Dorothy) Durflinger, Jeri (Mike) Leeper, Jon (Jennifer) Durflinger and Michael C. Brown; step-grandchildren: Terry (Tara) Brown and Chris (Dale) Gillaspie; 14 great grandchildren; 12 step-great grandchildren; 3 step-great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother: Orthy Koonce, sister: Dorothy Cheatham, step-granddaughter: Deana Scanlon.
Betty was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.
