Cola Henry Long Jr. passed away on Thursday, February 7, 2013 at the age of 81. He was the beloved husband of 62 years to Dolores Loverde Long. Son of the late Cola H. Long Sr. and Oralia Decossas Long. Loving father of Richard J. Long (Karen) and Lori Long Cuccia (Anthony). Proud and devoted grandfather of Natasha Cuccia Robin, Scott Cuccia (Melissa), Amy L. Desselle (Kenny) and his great grandchildren Evan Cuccia, Evangeline Cuccia and Nicholas Robin. Brother of Darleen Gonzales (Edward), Joyce Latino (the late Marion), Robert Long (Vicki), Joseph Long Sr. (Dardenella) and the late Huey Long (the late Beverly), Eunice Doane (the late Buddy) and Ethel Melton (the late Charles). He is also survived and fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Cola was a lifelong and active resident of St. Bernard Parish where he retired from a long career with Tenneco Oil Refinery. He was also the founder of Smitty's Tire Shop / Chalmette Tire. Cola was an honored member of the Andrew Jackson Masonic Lodge No. 428; a member of the St. Bernard Alcohol & Beverage Control Board; and former King of the Jupiter and Gladiator's Carnival Organization.

He was well loved, and affectionately known for his good nature and generous heart. He will be forever remembered as a loving and loyal husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and a friend to many, who believed in hard work and wanted nothing but the best for his family and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Monday, February 11th from 10:00AM – 1:00PM, followed by a Funeral Mass beginning at 1:00PM.

Burial will follow in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
