David Howard Creech, of 4880 NC 42 East, Clayton, N.C. passed to his heavenly father on Sunday, December 16, 2012. A memorial service will be held 3pm Wednesday at Flowers Family Cemetery. He is survived by his brother, Hubert McKinley Creech of Smithfield, N.C., sister, Ella Mae Creech Pete, of Washington, D.C., and the Delma and Percy Flowers family of N.C. 42 East, Clayton.

Howard was born in the country, south of Smithfield, on July 10, 1917. His parents were Bristol Hubert Creech and Mamie Mitchiner Creech. He attended elementary school at Galilee School in Smithfield and Four Oaks Elementary.

Howard began working with Joshua Percy Flowers of 42 East Clayton, in the 1930's, at about age 15. He remained there working and lived at the Flowers' farm until his death at 95 years of age. He was the very special and gentle spirit of the family. When Mr. Flowers died in 1982, Howard stayed at the farm and took care of Mrs. Flowers, until her death in 1995. He was as a grandfather to Rebecca D. Flowers, Joshua Flowers Finch and Jordan White Finch.

Howard loved the poems of Robert Louis Stevenson. His holiday prayers were very special to the family and those recitations made Thanksgiving and Christmas a much anticipated event for the family.

His loving and caring manner caused many people to visit with him. He was always surrounded by friends.

He will remain in the heart and soul of many people, especially those who grew up, with him being there for them always!

The family will receive friends Tuesday afternoon from 5-7 pm at McLaurin Funeral Home, Clayton. Online condolences may be made to the family at
