Elias Garcia, Jr. "Toby" passed from this life into the new life promised by his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, where he is now enjoying the things he had been unable to do these past few years due to a long illness. Our brother has finally reached the other side and found peace and rest. He is now reunited with his wife, Alice who he adored and shared many beautiful years with. His acceptance of God's will in his life was an inspiration to all of us, showing us without words and in a profound way, how to life our lives and to be thankful for whatever God brings us and to smile and enjoy the "little things". Eli welcomed each day and rejoiced in the visit of a friend, a phone call or visit from his brothers, a home-cooked dish from family, chuckles shared with sisters over a silly joke, a shared memory with nephews and nieces, and so on. He was grateful for these simple everyday things and showed his family how to live in spite of health set-backs. This was perhaps the most meaningful lesson he taught us. Eli was a good father, brother, friend and "compadre" to those who loved him. His illness, which he bore without complaint, left him bedridden for many years and unable to enjoy the things he enjoyed; mainly being with family which he loved above all, due to his confinement. He was a great cook, a good dancer, and he loved living life to the fullest – surrounded by many friends and family at gatherings. He was a "Nino" or godfather, to many and he dearly loved his godchildren as well as his nephews and nieces who all showered him with their love and affection. Elias was preceded in death by his parents Rita and Elias Garcia and his beloved wife Alice. He is survived by his son Elias Jaime Garcia and his four grandchildren, Jamie Jr., Carlos and Fernando Garcia as well as his precious granddaughter, Anisa Garcia, Eli also leaves behind his siblings, Louisa Zemke, Fred Garcia (Elena), Norma Morales (Alex), Dodie Romo (Gilbert), Molly DeLeon, Larry Garcia (Lorie), and Sylvia Forry (Bob). Additionally many, many nieces and nephews to the 2nd and 3rd generation. Well done good and faithful servant, go to your reward. We will carry on in the hopes of one day seeing you again. Adios Hermano. A visitation will be held on Wednesday January 23, 2013 from 5:00 - 9:00 PM with Rosary at 7:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Chapel, 6830 W. Thunderbird Road, Peoria, AZ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday January 24, 2013 at 10:30 AM at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 6180 W. Utopia Road, Glendale, AZ. Burial Will Follow at West Resthaven Cemetery.
