EVELYN MARIE TAYLOR MURPHY, age 91 years, a resident of Elkins, WV went to be with the Lord, Tuesday evening, January 8, 2013 at the Hospice Care Regional Inpatient Center at Elkins, WV. She had been in declining health for the past year.
She was born Wednesday, June 1, 1921 at Elkins, WV a daughter of the late Raymond and Eva Ware Taylor. On September 28, 1945 at Elkins, WV she was married to Charles Murphy who survives. They had celebrated sixty-seven years of marriage. Also surviving are one son, David Craig Murphy, Elkins; two daughters, Karen Sue Winans and husband Bob, Elkins; Kathryn Elizabeth Hewitt, Morgantown; two sisters, Donna Mae Ware, Mogadore, OH; Thelma Phillips, VA; thirteen grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death are one infant daughter, Cheryl Diane Murphy; one brother, Donald Ray Taylor; and one sister, Mary E. Williams.
Evelyn was a graduate of Elkins High School, and was retired from the Davis Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the Elkins Church of God and Family Worship Center and was well known for her cooking and baking.
Mrs. Murphy's request for cremation was honored. A Graveside Service will be held at the American Legion's Little Arlington Cemetery at a later date.
