Florence M. Bell, 83, of Grinnell, died on Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at her home.
A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 12, 2013, at the Grinnell Christian Church with Rev. John Epperson officiating. Music will be provided by Jolene Jones, organist and James Bell and his fellow band members. Casket Bearers will be Andrew, Samuel and Glen Bell, Amanda Fogarty, Patrick and Andrew Henderson and Hannah Harrison. Interment will be at Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell.
Memorials may be directed to the Grinnell Christian Church.
Florence was born on March 30, 1929, in Grinnell, Iowa to Edward and Mary Walters Wright. She was raised in Grinnell and attended Grinnell High School as a member of the Class of 1947. She also attended the North Central Bible College and the Iowa College of Cosmetology.
On June 13, 1948, she was married to Glen P. Bell in Grinnell. The couple lived in Grinnell and was a homemaker and mother. She also was a beautician for over 53 years and operated Flossie's Beauty Salon in Grinnell and Brooklyn.
Florence was a member of the Grinnell Christian Church and the Iowa River Campers. She enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, gardening and canning food. Her hobbies also included art work and music.
Florence is survived by her husband; two sons, Norman (Jan) Bell of Bloomsdale, Missouri and James (Ann) Bell of Grinnell; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; and one sister, Adelma Muns of Cannon City, Colorado.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Matthew Henderson; four brothers, Elmer, Virgil, Raymond and Edward Wright; and her infant sister, Kathleen Wright.
