Hyde Park – Irene Post, 94, a longtime area resident, died Saturday, December 8, 2012 at the Baptist Home, Rhinebeck.
Born in Hartsdale, NY on April 23, 1918, she was the daughter of the late George and Grace Thompkins Craft. She attended the former Staatsburg Union Free School.
Irene worked the cash register at East Park Pharmacy in Hyde Park for twenty years and was active with the Hyde Park Seniors Center.
On April 26, 1936, she married George Greene. Mr. Greene predeceased her in 1969. She married Gordon Post on January 11, 1975. Mr. Post predeceased her in 1998.
She is survived by her three children, Virginia Gleason of Florida, Janice Yeomans and husband, William, of Georgia, and Richard Greene and wife, Joan, of Hyde Park; and by daughter-in-law, Barbara Greene, of Hyde Park.
She is also survived by two sisters, Bertha Oles, and Estelle Zarro and husband, Ralph; cousin, Dorothy Raab and husband, George; and close friend, Betty O'Brien, all of Hyde Park.
She has sixteen grandchildren; Mitch Greene, Wendy St. Amand, Teresa Dziendzielenski, Stephanie Knapp, Arlene Griffiths, Denise Triola, John Gleason, Chris Gleason, Karen Skapedis, Kay Acquaro, William Yeomans, Sean Yeomans, Lorraine Lauridsen, Levi Greene, Maria Blum, and Erin McCurty; forty-two great grandchildren; twenty three great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her two husbands, she was predeceased by her son, Ronald Greene; brother, Everett Craft; and sister, Marie Wood.
Calling hours will be from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 pm, Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at Sweet's Funeral Home, Inc., Rte. 9, Hyde Park.
Funeral services will be 11 am, Thursday, December 13th at the funeral home. Deacon Jerry Lindley will officiate.
Burial will follow in the family plot in Union Cemetery of Hyde Park.
