Eulogy for James H. Cosper II
James Henry Cosper II was born in Miami Florida on August 4, 1940 the son of Thomas and Jeanette Cosper. At that time the family lived on South Miami Beach. Jim was named after his paternal grandfather. He attended Miami Edison High School and the University of Alabama. After leaving Alabama, he went back to Miami for a short while and eventually moved to New York City.
In New York, Jim worked as a market analyst for Chase Manhattan Bank. After another interlude in Miami, he moved to Chicago and worked in the office for the Clark Oil Company. In Chicago, he met his lifelong best friend, Bob Vest. Over the ensuing years he lived in Memphis, Charlotte and Miami before a final move to Clearwater in the 1990's. In Clearwater he worked mostly for Cosper Construction Management, his brother's company. Jim retired in 2005.
He was very creative. He always enjoyed cooking and feeding a crowd, using his favorite old Southern family recipes. He also loved working in the yard. He had a green thumb and could grow about anything. Wherever he lived there were flowers.
Most of all, over many years, he loved his dogs: Cindy, Fifi, Sam, Annie and Reggie, and probably a few more. They were all special to him, but he especially loved his little mutt, Annie. It seemed Annie provided Jim with unconditional love and companionship when he really needed it. Her ashes will be buried alongside him at his request.
Jim never married, so he stayed very close to his extended family. He is survived by:
