It is with our deepest heartfelt sorrow, Janice Foulkes Stuchel, our beloved matriarch and mother, grandmother, grandma-great, sister and best friend passed away Jan. 24, 2013, at the Windsor Manor in Indianola.
Janice was born Sept. 3, 1931 in Albia, at the home of her grandparents, Mae and Jessie Newell.
She was a 1948 graduate of Albia High School, attended business college and was business manager at Monroe County Hospital for 29 years. She was a member of St. Mary's Altar and Rosary Society.
She married her high school sweetheart, Donald Stuchel, in Ft. Riley, Kansas.
What she cherished most was time with family and friends. Her passion for the town of Albia, its' sporting events, the Iowa Hawkeyes and her life-long love of music will be greatly missed.
Left to celebrate her life and mourn her loss are her children, Judy O'Keefe of Columbus, Ohio, Jayne (Mark) Hutchens of Indianola, John (Patty) Stuchel of Albia, Joe and Conrad (Colwell) Stuchel of Trophy Club, Texas and Jana (Doug) Van Polen of Waukee; 10 grandchildren, Jodi Montgomery, Christian Montgomery, Maggie Henry, Bob Stuchel, Katie O'Keefe Hoffman, Kourtney Dewald, Kyle O'Keefe, Bob Van Polen, Evy Embree, Morgan Van Polen, nine great-grandchildren; Cole Henry, Ellie Henry, Addison Stuchel, Brady Stuchel, Khloe Dewald, Kody Dewald, Kaela O'Keefe Hoffman, Luci Montgomery Baker, Dylan Montgomery Baker, Colby Embree, Lucy Embree; a sister, Suzanne Hood of Osawattomie, Kansas and many beloved brother- and sisters-in-law.
Janice was preceded in death by her husband, Don; daughter, Jolinda; her parents, Evelyn and John Foulkes; and grandson, Michael Montgomery.
A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Janice's life will be at 10:30a.m., Monday January 28, 2013, at St Mary's Catholic Church in Albia, with Fr. Michael E. Volkmer, C.PP.S. officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Albia.
Visitation will open to the public at 11 a.m. on Sunday, January 27, 2013, at Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with Janice's family present from 4 to 8:00 p.m. A rosary will be led at 4 p.m., provided by St. Mary's Altar and Rosary Society, with a Christian Wake Service beginning at 6 p.m., Sunday evening at the funeral home.
Deepest gratitude is given to our Windsor Manor family for their love and wonderful care of our mother.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to be used in Janice's name by the Albia Music Department.
