Jim "Buddy" Turnbull, 82 years of age, of Coolidge Arizona, passed away on February 22nd, 2013. He was born on September 26th, 1930 in Safford, Arizona to Dick and Susannah Turnbull.
Jim grew up in Safford Arizona, where he graduated from high school. After high school he attended Eastern Arizona College, where he met the love of his life, Carol. Jim and his wife made their home in Coolidge and were happily married for 61 years. Jim served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged.
After working with his uncle at the Pinal Implement Company, Jim began his 42 years of service to Pinal County, as an accountant/Chief Deputy in the Pinal County School Superintendent's Office. Thereafter, Jim aspired to run for public office. In 1973 with the help of his family and friends, he continued to serve Pinal County and was elected as Treasurer, and held his office for 31 years. He was a founding member of the Arizona Association of Counties, a member of the National Association of Counties and a member of the International Association of Clerks, Recorders, Elections Officials, and Treasurers. Jim was given the honor of being inducted into the Pinal County Democratic Hall of Fame. He will be remembered fondly by all that met and worked with him over his years of service. He retired from public office in 2004. Jim was also a member of the American Legion, VFW and Elk's Club. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed many expeditions over the years.
In Jim's personal life, he was a devoted husband, brother, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He had a heart of gold and was cherished by his family.
Jim was preceded in death by Dick and Sue Turnbull, his father and mother; brothers Bill and Gary and his sister Elaine "Sis".
Jim is survived by his wife Carol of Coolidge, Arizona; his daughters Cindy (Richard) Delsi, Debra (Craig) Shaw and Julie (Steve) Frazier; his brother Dick (Pat) Turnbull; his sisters Karen (Floyd) Henson and Linda (Lawrence) Lenderman; his grandchildren Brian (Marisol) and Justin Delsi, Brandon (Michelle) Ramirez, Brittany, Lauren, and Jennifer Shaw; great grandchildren Anisssa, Sienna, and Aidan Delsi, and Analei Ramirez.
