JOANN M. MODIC (nee: ADAMIC) age 58 of Hambden Twp., a homemaker, died January 31, 2013, at her home. Born August 5, 1954, she lived in Hambden Twp. since 1987. She was a member of the Church of St. Mary, Chardon, where she was active on their bereavement team. For 18 years, prior to marrying Doug, Joann worked in the family business, Safeway Tire Company in Cleveland. She enjoyed scrap booking, the Cleveland Indians and Browns, and Longaberger baskets.Joann loved Drag Racing, NASCAR, NHRA, wine tasting and traveling. She is survived by her husband, Doug Modic, whom she married October 17, 1987, in Chardon; sons Douglas (Sarah) Modic, Dale and Dustin Modic; siblings Kathy McDonnell, Patricia Adamic, Larry and Shelly Mahon, Debora Woods, Tim Mahon, Michelle Hale, AJ (Suzanne) Adamic, Gene (Sheryl) Adamic, Dale (Annmarie) Adamic, Cindy (Jim) Hall, Allan (Andrea) Adamic and Tiffany Adamic. She also leaves her God mother, Alice Kroyer; God daughters, Cayla Rae Sheets and Madelyn Adamic; step fathers Larry Mahon and Tivis Hale; step mother Layle Adamic. She and her closest cousin, Darlene Crawford, were like sisters all through life. Her parents, Alfred Adamic and Patricia (nee: Kroyer) Adamic Mahon Hale, sister Donna Sheets, aunt Rose Adamic and God father, John Kroyer, are deceased.

Joann was like a daughter to Doug's mom, Carol Modic, who devoted her time to Joann's care, She was her biggest supporter and primary caregiver.

Mass of Christian Burial Friday, February 8, 2013, 11:30 am, at the Church of St. Mary, 401 North St., Chardon. VISITATION: Thursday, February 7, 1:00 – 3:00 and 5:00 – 8:00 PM at the Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St. (On Rt. 44, 500' south of Rt. 6/Chardon Square) Chardon. Donations are requested to the Joann Modic Benefit Fund, C/O First National Bank, 540 Water Street, Chardon, OH 44024.
