Lillian D. McDowell, age 86, of Avondale, PA died on Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at her home. She was the wife of the late Norman H. McDowell with whom she shared 54 years of marriage.

Born in Oxford, PA, she was the daughter of the late D. Harold and Lillian Baylis Davis. She graduated from Beacom College and worked as an Executive Secretary in Wilmington, DE. In her community she served as president of the Womens Club and was one of the first to volunteer at Jennersville Regional Hospital when it opened in 1959. During her 49 years of service she was recognized as Volunteer of the Year in 1987 and received the prestigious Walter Goss Service Award in 2005.

Lillian is survived by daughters, Constance Paisley, her husband, Thomas; and Patricia McDowell; grandchildren, Chad and Allison Paisley and Craig Smith; great-grandchildren, Tamsin Byrd Paisley, Dezi, Craig and Timothy Smith.

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, December 13, 2008 at Avondale Presbyterian Church, 420 Pennsylvania Avenue, Avondale, PA 19311. Friends may visit with the family at 11:00 before the service. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Avondale Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 446, Avondale, PA 19311.
