Lucille N. Bistany
COLUMBIA - A funeral service for Lucille Nassar Bistany, 97, will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 30, 2013, at Shandon Baptist Church on Forest Drive with burial in Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family.
Mrs. Bistany died Sunday, January 27, 2013. Born in Americus, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Jim and Mary Attyeh Nassar. In 1943, she married Edward John Bistany, Sr. and moved to Columbia and together they founded Bistany's Oriental Rugs in 1948. Mrs. Bistany was a lifetime member of Shandon Baptist Church and a Sunday School teacher for many years. She was a loving mother and her family was her greatest treasure. Even in her last years, Mrs. Bistany's love of life was an example of what she wanted for her family.
She is survived by her son, Edward John Bistany, Jr. of Columbia and nieces and nephew.
