Marcelle Herring Martin, 89 of Magnolia, Arkansas died Thursday January 17, 2013 at the Magnolia Regional Medical Center in Magnolia.
Marcelle was born on August 1, 1923 in Waterloo, Arkansas to the late Herbert and Coy (Atkins) Herring and was a teacher for the Taylor and McNeil Public Schools. Marcelle was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Arkansas Retired Teachers Association.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Tom Martin; son Richard Martin; brothers Lynn and George Herring; and sister Virginia Callicott.
Survivors are her granddaughter Marcie Townsen (Greg) of Lake Dallas, Texas; brother Macon Herring of Baldwin, Louisiana; sisters Myrth Clark of Stamps, Ruth Watkins of Waldo, Margarette Otwell of Houston, Texas, Drucilla Fairchild of North Little Rock; great granddaughter Lexi Townsen of Lake Dallas, Texas; great grandson Eli Townsen of Lake Dallas, Texas; and a number of nephew and nieces.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 19th at the First Baptist Church in Waldo, Arkansas with Dr. Larry Silvey and Bro. David Watkins officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Olive Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. of Magnolia. Visitation will be Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Rickie Barnard, Larry Clark, Mark Callicott, Kenny Fairchild, Rodney Herring, Wayne Otwell and Eddie Otwell.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 385, Waldo, AR 71770.
