Mark Eliot Shaffer, 58, loving husband, son, brother and nephew passed away on September 21, 2012. Mark was born and raised in Ft. Dodge, Iowa but lived the last 34 years in the Phoenix area. He loved his childhood years growing up in Iowa, and spending summers with his family and friends at Lake Okoboji, where he loved to sail and water ski. After moving to Phoenix in his 20's, Mark attended Arizona State University and eventually became a Network Specialist. During this time he met his wife Diana, and they were together for 31 years. Mark loved the outdoors, and he and his wife enjoyed taking trips throughout the western states. He was a man with tremendous courage and a sharp sense of humor, both of which helped him fight through a long illness. He is now at peace and in the comfort of our Lord, and is preceded in death by his father, Jerry Shaffer, and brother Todd.

He is survived by his wife Diana Angulo Shaffer, his mother LaVonne Shaffer, brothers Alan Shaffer and Eric Shaffer, sisters Ann Schurbon and Kim Hannan, nieces Kristen Stanley, Kari Henline, Kelly Hannan, his aunt Mary Gano and his beloved dog Thor who was a tremendous comfort and joy to him.

Services will be held on Saturday, September 29 at Heritage Funeral Chapel 6830 West Thunderbird Road, Glendale, AZ visitation is from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., with a service at 3:00 p.m. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Stroke Association, 7272 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75231-4596
