Richard Byrns "Cotton" Jones, 81, of Springfield, died Monday December 10, 2012 at his home. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday December 13th at 3:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Hinkle and Rev. Jerry Heflin officiating. Interment will follow in Robertson County Memorial Gardens with Jeremy Jones, Josh Clinard, Dallas Gilbert, Dustin Jones, Brandon Jones, and Colton Jones serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Mr. Jones was born July 1, 1931 in Robertson County to the late Ben T. and Mary Frances Morris Jones. He was a partner in Springfield Auto Clinic and he owned and operated Springfield Towing. Mr. Jones was a member of Eastland Heights Baptist Church and was a veteran of the National Guard, having served during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Jones loved antique cars, Nascar Racing-Bill Elliott fan, and was a former Drag Car racer having won many awards and trophies. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings: Mitchell E., Delbert R., Ben T. Jones, Jr., and Mary Frances Johnson. Mr. Jones is survived by his wife of 62 years: Jean Durham Jones, sons and daughters-in-law: Ronnie D. and Vickie Jones of Soddy Daisy, Eddie P. and Vivian Jones of Nashua, NH, daughters and sons-in-law: Diane and Ricky Clinard of Greenbrier, Patti and Larry Gilbert of Adams, brother: William T. "Billy" Jones of Springfield, sisters and brother-in-law: Pauline and Gordon Traughber of Sprinfield, Dorothy Mefford of Springfield, nine grandchildren, one great grandchild
