Robert R. "Bob" Putignano, 48, of Vandergrift, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 5, 2013 in Forbes Regional Hospital, Monroeville following a brief illness, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born on February 13, 1964 in Natrona Heights he was a son of Loretta M. (Yamber) Putignano of Vandergrift and the late Vincent Putignano who passed away on May 21, 2008.
Bob will always be remembered by all that knew him as a generous spirit, selfless community member and friend to all. Former owner of Putignano Candy and Cigar Company he was currently employed by Tees-N-Tops in Vandergrift.
He was past president of the Vandergrift Lions Club and the Vandergrift Fire Dept #1. His memberships included; Festa Italiana di Vandergrift, American Bari Society and numerous other organizations in the Alle-Kiski Area.
Bob adored and was the proud father of Vinny, cherished son of Loretta and the late Vince; brother of Jim (Barb), Andrea (Joe) Troya, Mike (Kristen), Mark (Nicole) and Brian (Ashley). Fun and loved uncle of Hailee, Travis, AJ, Julia, Christina, Dominic, Ana, Adam, Ben and Matthew. He is also survived by a host of close knit aunts, uncles and cousins.
Preceded in death by his loving grandparents, Andrew and Marie Putignano and Joseph and Margaret Yamber.
Bob enjoyed spending evenings with his son Vinny at various Kiski Area Sporting events and watching the races at Lernerville Speedway. Bob's absence in all the lives he touched will be felt deeply and eternally. The family would like to thank the staff at Forbes Hospital ICU for their exceptional care over the past 3 weeks.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 8th from 6-8 pm and on Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm in the Brady-Curran Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 429 Franklin Avenue, Vandergrift. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 am with Father James Loew OSB as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Gertrude Cemetery, Vandergrift. The Vandergrift Fire Department #1 will have a service at the funeral home on Tuesday at 7 pm and the Vandergrift Lions Club will have their service on Wednesday at 7:45 pm.
In lieu of flowers the family graciously requests donations be made to Apollo Trust Co., PO Box 247, Apollo PA 15613 for a trust established for his son Vincent G. Putignano.
