BOXFORD- Miss Shannon Marie Delaney 35, of Chicago, IL, formerly of Boxford, MA died unexpectedly, Friday November 9th, 2012 at her home in Chicago.

Born in Newburyport, MA she was the daughter of Peter J. and Christine A. (Chetty) Delaney. She was raised and educated in Boxford and was a graduate of Masconomet High School, class of 1995. She continued her education at Goucher College in Baltimore and earned her Master's Degree in Higher Education Administration at the University of Delaware.

Miss Delaney worked at Centenary College in Shreveport, LA, The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and was currently employed as the Associate Director of Strategic Programming and Outreach, Career Advisory Placement Services at the University of Chicago.

Shannon was a dedicated New England Patriots fan and avid runner using the Chicago 1/2 Marathon to raise funds for the American Cancer Society. She had a caring heart and was always thinking of ways to help others. She was a former member of the Essex County Beekeepers' Association of Topsfield, MA.

Family and friends were of the utmost importance to Shannon. She cherished the time she was able to spend with her family and just a week ago she combined two of her favorite things, football and family, by attending a Notre Dame football game with her parents and friends. Whether through her profession, hobbies or sports she always put others before herself and was a caring, thoughtful and kind young woman who will be deeply missed.

Shannon is survived by her parents, Peter J. and Christine A. (Chetty) Delaney of Boxford, MA her aunts and uncles, Paul Delaney and his wife Sue of West Newbury, MA, Michael Delaney of Amesbury, MA, Mark Delaney and his wife Terrie of Kingston, NH, Sharon Rizzitano and her husband Joe of Weare NH and Matt Delaney of Newton NH and many cousins and extended family and friends.

ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral will be held from the Peterson-O'Donnell Funeral Home 167 Maple St., (Rte 62) Danvers, Monday, November 19th at 9 A.M. followed by her funeral Mass in St. Rose of Lima Church, Park St., Topsfield at 10:00 AM. Burial in Village Cemetery, Boxford. Visiting hours Sunday from 4 to 8 P.M.
