Hickory-Mrs. Zelda Lee Keller Baker, 88 passed away Sunday, February 3, 2013 at the Lutheran Home-Hickory (Trinity Village).
She was born January 4, 1925 in Catawba County, the daughter of Ivey and Della Hefner Keller. She was a member of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church (ELCA), a member of St. Stephen's Lutheran WELCA and was a member of the N.C. Association for the Blind. She retired from Hickory Dyeing and Winding with over 50 years of service and then went to work at the Lutheran Home in her retirement. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, sewing and cooking. A great housekeeper, she was devoted to her family and her faith.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George L. Baker; a daughter, Patricia B. Stewart; three brothers, Glenn, Floyd and Bill Keller and two sisters, Beulah Frye and Betty Hilton.
Survivors include a daughter, Tamara B. Sain and husband, Terry of Hickory; four grandchildren, Sheila Cloninger of Conover, Alicia Jones and husband, Danny of Hickory, Wesley Sain of Hickory and Amber Phillips and husband, Adam of Conover; seven great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.
A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, February 6th at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church (ELCA) by Pastor Richard Hites. Burial will follow in Catawba Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 5th from 7 to 8:30 PM at Catawba Funerals and Cremations.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of the Lutheran Home-Hickory for their loving care during these past few years. They are truly a member of our family.
